Changes ask first unless you let an area do them straight away. WhatsApp messages always ask first, and anything above your money limit always waits for you. Fixing a wholesale rate, settling a memo and issuing or receiving karigar metal stay with you. check_request tells the AI app what happened to a change that waited.

Tell it what to do

The assistant does the work in CaratOS: makes an estimate, prepares a draft bill for the counter, records a payment or a kitty instalment, creates a karigar job, logs old gold bought, updates a piece or today’s rates, and sends a WhatsApp with your OK. Anything set to “Ask me first” waits for you, and the assistant is told what happened.

You stay in control

You set what each assistant can do, area by area, and it can’t go past what you’ve allowed. Only you connect an assistant, and you decide whether a manager may connect their own.

  • Looks up and changes: areas start at look up and change, each change asking first (WhatsApp starts off); turn one down to look up, or off, any time.
  • Ask me first: changes wait for your OK unless you say otherwise.
  • Money limits: big amounts always wait for your OK.
  • Never allowed: deleting, finishing, taking payment on or cancelling a bill, fixing a wholesale rate, settling a memo, issuing or receiving karigar metal, GST settings, staff and permissions, or plan and billing changes.

Questions about AI assistants

What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard for connecting AI apps to real software. CaratOS has an MCP link for your shop, so Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and other AI apps can look things up and do work in CaratOS, only as you allow.

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. You copy one link, paste it into your AI app, sign in with CaratOS and press Allow. It takes about a minute, with nothing to install.

Which AI apps support MCP?

Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor all take MCP connectors. The same CaratOS link also works in other AI apps that do, such as Antigravity, Hermes and DeepSeek.

Can it change things without me?

Only in areas you set to “Do it straight away”, and never above your money limit. Everywhere else, changes wait in Needs you until you or a manager approve them. WhatsApp messages always wait for your OK.

What can it never do?

Delete anything; finish, take payment on or cancel a bill; fix a wholesale rate or settle a memo; issue or receive karigar metal; change GST settings, staff or permissions, or your plan or billing. These are off for every assistant and can’t be turned on. It can prepare a draft bill, held at the counter for 48 hours, but only a person in your shop checks and finishes it.

Who can connect it?

The owner. You can also let a manager connect their own assistant. It never gets more than your settings or that manager’s own access allow, and every change it asks for comes to you, the owner, to approve.

How do I undo something it did?

Open Your shop › AI assistants and go to Activity. Changes CaratOS can undo, like a new customer or a changed price, have an Undo button. Everything the assistant looked up or changed is listed for 90 days.

Does it see phone numbers?

Not unless you switch it on. Until then it sees only the last 4 digits, like XXXXXX0004. Purchase cost, margins and profit stay hidden the same way.

How do I stop it?

In Your shop › AI assistants, press Disconnect next to the assistant. It stops at once. “Sign out everywhere” or changing your password also disconnects every assistant.

Do I need a Claude or ChatGPT account?

Yes, your own: Claude, ChatGPT or another AI app that takes MCP connectors. Your questions run on your own AI plan. CaratOS gives the connection and doesn’t charge per question.

Is my data used to train AI?

CaratOS sends the assistant only the answer to each request, within what you’ve allowed. How the assistant’s company treats your conversations follows that company’s own settings and terms, so check them in your Claude or ChatGPT account. How CaratOS looks after your data: Your data.
