How it's worked out
How tola to gram works
Grams = tola × 10. A tola is 10 g, so to go from tola to grams, multiply by 10. To go from grams to tola, divide by 10.
A pavan, or sovereign, is 8 g, the South Indian trade unit. Because a tola is 10 g, the gold rate per tola is the same as the rate per 10 g, the figure the market quotes.
