How it's worked out
How wastage is worked out
Wastage is metal: what is lost, or charged for, while a piece is made, from filings, polishing and soldering. It is given as a percentage of the weight or in grams.
First the wastage weight: the weight × the wastage %. Then its fine gold: that weight × the purity. Its value is the fine gold × your rate per 10 g of fine gold ÷ 10.
For karigar allowances worked out in fine weight, read the karigar guide. For how wastage shows on a bill, read the bill format guide.
