What is a jewellery ERP?
ERP stands for enterprise resource planning. In plain words, it means one system for the whole business, instead of a billing app here, a stock register there and a separate notebook for the karigar. Every sale, purchase and gram of metal is entered once and shows up everywhere it is needed.
A jewellery ERP is different from a general ERP because jewellery is counted twice: in rupees and in grams. A chain is worth what the day’s gold rate says, a karigar owes you fine metal, not money, and a wholesaler may settle in metal weeks after the goods left. So a jewellery ERP software worth the name keeps two ledgers side by side, cash and metal, and works from weight, purity and the day’s rate.
It also has to follow the rules for jewellery in India. Articles of jewellery (HSN 7113) carry 3% GST, split as 1.5% CGST and 1.5% SGST within your state, or 3% IGST for another state. Hallmarked gold jewellery sold in India must carry a 6-character alphanumeric HUID. Our GST billing guide and stock with HUID guide go into both.
Retail, wholesale and manufacturing need different things
Many vendors use “ERP” for anything from a billing app to a full factory system. Before you compare names, be clear which kind of business you run. Most jewellers are a mix, so tick what applies to you.

What a retail jewellery shop needs
- A fast counter. Scan a tag, price the piece at today’s rate, take old gold off the same bill, split the payment across cash, UPI and card.
- Stock you can trust. Every piece with its weight, purity, making, stones and HUID, and a count you can check against the shelf.
- Customers who come back. Dues with reminders, savings schemes, and bills shared on WhatsApp.
- Clean books for your CA. GST figures each month and an export your munim doesn’t have to retype.
- For most single shops, this is “ERP” enough. Our shop management guide covers it in more detail, and the billing guide lists what the counter must handle. With two or more shops, read the multi-branch jewellery software guide.
What a wholesaler needs on top
- Memo, or pieces on approval. Send goods to a retailer, track every gram until it comes back or is billed.
- Accounts in metal and money. A retailer may owe you 120 grams of fine gold and a sum in rupees at the same time. Both balances must be clear.
- Rate fixing later. Some trade is settled in metal first and the rate is fixed afterwards.
- Trade quotes priced on the day’s metal and stone rates.
- Read our wholesale software guide for memo, trade accounts and the GST rules on goods sent on approval, and the jewellery approval memo guide for the records to keep on each memo.
What a manufacturer needs on top
- A bill of materials (BOM). For each design, how much metal, which stones, findings and labour go into it, so you can plan and cost a production run.
- Production planning. Orders turned into job cards, moving through casting, filing, setting and polishing, with each stage’s loss recorded.
- Metal issue and return at every step. Gold issued to each karigar or department, fine weight returned, and the loss (wastage or touch) checked against what you allow.
- Karigar pay worked out from the jobs done.
- If BOM and factory planning are central to your business, you need a manufacturing ERP. CaratOS isn’t one, and we would rather say so here than in the demo.
What CaratOS covers
CaratOS is jewellery billing and shop management software for Indian retail jewellers and wholesalers, made by Izara Gems Pvt. Ltd. in Delhi. It runs in your browser at app.caratos.co.in, on a phone, tablet or computer, and each person can use it in English or Hindi.
On every plan: GST bills at your own gold and silver rates with old gold on the same bill, stock with weight, purity and HUID, price tags, customer dues, the cash book, GST summary figures, a Tally export and karigar jobs, so you know which piece is with which karigar and when it is due back. Your CA gets a free read-only login.
On Growth: production stages, karigar pay and wastage, finished pieces going straight into stock, pieces on approval (memo), trade accounts in cash and metal, B2B quotes, the metal book with bhav cut and old gold refining, purchase bills, books and ledgers, savings schemes, more than one branch with transfers, GST e-invoices with IRN and Tally live sync.
What CaratOS doesn’t do
- No manufacturing BOM. There is no bill of materials, casting planning or factory costing. Karigar jobs and production stages track pieces and metal, not a factory plan.
- No girvi (gold loans).
- No RFID. Stock is counted by scanning barcode or QR tags.
- No Android app. CaratOS runs in the browser, so the counter needs an internet connection.
- CaratOS Desktop is coming soon, with your records on your own computer. There is no date yet: see CaratOS Desktop.
Other jewellery ERP options (checked 1 November 2026)
Here is what three other vendors say on their own websites. We have kept to what each page states; where a page is silent, we say “not published on their website”. Each has real strengths, so ask them directly about anything that matters to you.
TallyPrime publishes its prices and offers a 7-day free trial. Its jewellery page describes metal loss and balances during manufacturing, production stages, karigar job work, multi-location stock, RFID integration, and cloud or on-premise use. If your CA already works in Tally, that counts for a lot. The page does not mention a bill of materials or HUID by name.
Online Munim calls itself a billing ERP for showrooms and wholesale. Its page lists gold loans and money lending, RFID stock, HUID, karigar metal tracking and a desktop setup, which covers things CaratOS doesn’t do. Prices are not published on their website.
Logiology offers separate products for retail (Nebu), wholesale (Ouro) and manufacturing (Esmith), with mobile apps for reports and schemes. Its page gives no detail on what Esmith does in production. Prices are not published on their website.
| What it offers | TallyPrime | Online Munim | Logiology |

What jewellery ERP software costs
Prices vary a lot, and many vendors don’t publish them. Some sell a one-time licence with a yearly AMC; others charge a monthly or yearly subscription. Ask every vendor for one figure over 3 years that includes setup, moving your data, training and support.
CaratOS prices are published, with GST included: Starter ₹1,199 a month and Growth ₹3,999 a month, or ₹42,999 a year for Growth. Custom is quoted for bigger teams. You can request a 15-day Starter trial with no card; it starts when CaratOS approves your request. Our price guide shows how to compare the 3-year cost.
Questions to ask before you buy a jewellery ERP
- Can you show a karigar job from metal issued to metal returned, with the wastage you allow?
- Does it keep a metal balance and a rupee balance for each trade party?
- Can you send pieces on memo and see what is still out, by party, in grams?
- If I am a manufacturer: where is the bill of materials, and how is a production run costed?
- Does the HUID come from my stock and print on the bill?
- What is the full price over 3 years, with GST, AMC and setup?
- How do I export all my data to Excel if I leave?
- Does it need internet, and what happens if the connection drops?

Questions shop owners ask
What is jewellery ERP software?
It is one system that runs a jewellery business end to end: billing at the day’s rate, stock by weight, purity and HUID, old gold, karigar metal, purchases, accounts and GST. Unlike a general ERP, it keeps balances in grams of metal as well as in rupees.
Do I need an ERP for a single jewellery shop?
Usually not a full one. A single shop needs fast billing with old gold, stock with HUID, dues, the cash book and clean GST figures for the CA. Buy what your staff will use every day, and make sure you can grow into more later.
Is CaratOS a jewellery ERP?
CaratOS covers billing, stock, customers, money, GST, karigar jobs and, on Growth, memo, trade accounts in cash and metal, purchases, ledgers and branches. It is retail and wholesale software. It does not do manufacturing BOM, girvi or RFID.
Can CaratOS manage karigar work?
Yes. Karigar jobs are on every plan, so you know which piece is with which karigar and when it is due back. Production stages, karigar pay and wastage are on Growth.
Does CaratOS work for jewellery manufacturers?
Only partly. It tracks karigar jobs, production stages and wastage, and puts finished pieces into stock on Growth, but it has no bill of materials or factory planning. If those are central to your work, you need a manufacturing ERP.
What GST applies to jewellery?
Articles of jewellery of precious metal (HSN 7113) carry 3% GST: 1.5% CGST and 1.5% SGST within your state, or 3% IGST for a customer in another state. Ask your CA how your shop treats making charges and old gold.
How much does CaratOS cost?
Starter is ₹1,199 a month and Growth ₹3,999 a month, or ₹42,999 a year, with GST included. You can request a 15-day Starter trial with no card; it starts when CaratOS approves it.
Is there a CaratOS app for Android or desktop?
There is no Android app. CaratOS runs in the browser on a phone, tablet or computer. CaratOS Desktop, which keeps your records on your own computer, is coming soon.
